Covering an area of 2,168 square kilometres, Khao Yai is Thailand's first national park and the third largest. Situated mainly in Nakhon Ratchasima, your holiday to Thailand will be incomplete with a visit to Khao Yai. The park is extremely busy on the week-ends and holidays which is a testament to its popularity amongst tourists and locals alike.

The national park is home to around 300 resident and migratory birds and has one of Thailand's largest populations of hornbills. There hasn’t been any sign of tiger activity in the park for a while, but camera traps have revealed a significant tiger population in neighbouring Thap Lan and Pang Sida National Park. The park has only one crocodile in the national park and it can be seen in the same location along the one of trails.

Trekking options start from 500m up to 8km and there are even some longer routes that requires guides for up to 3 days hiking. The waterfalls in the park, are a short walk from the main vehicle routes. Haew Nerok Waterfall in Khao Yai is one of the highest and most impressive waterfalls in the country.
