Located on the platinum west coast of Barbados, Cobblers Cove offers a haven of grace and tranquillity to discerning travellers. The beachside hotel has 40 suites, each individually decorated and open to the ocean and tropical garden surroundings. Serving the finest food on the island, The Camelot Restaurant is a destination in itself
In keeping with the heritage of Barbados, the history of Cobblers Cove is entwined with that of the Caribbean sugar industry and began with the Haynes family, one of the island's first sugar barons, who settled in Barbados in 1647. Joss Haynes was a sugar cane planter and a politician who was active in local government throughout his career. As was common amongst the Barbados elite, the family built a weekend beach retreat where they could escape the island's rugged east coast - they chose Cobblers Cove. The original plantation house was built in 1943 and called Camelot, a name still retained today as one of the signature suites in the Great House. In the following years the house was extended and the gardens developed and after Joseph’s retirement, he and his wife moved to Camelot where they lived until his death in 1963. In 1968, Cobblers Cove was sold to Alan Godsal and his wife, Lady Elizabeth, descendants of the Colleton family, another prominent sugar family who were also founders of the state of Carolina. Cobblers Cove was converted into a hotel in 1968, and by the 1980s the property was well established as a luxury boutique hotel with a reputation for fine food and wines, becoming a member of the prestigious Relais & Châteaux collection of hotels and resorts. More recently, Alan’s son, Hugh, took on the role of overseeing the management of Cobblers Cove and alongside his wife Sam, remains closely involved in the development of the property and its direction for the future.

Elegant living rooms open out onto private terraces or balconies allowing guests to enjoy the lush garden views.  Suites offer either king size or twin beds with Egyptian cotton bed linens and goose down pillows. Bedrooms are air-conditioned and ceiling fans cool both the living room and bedroom.  This category is offered on the ground floor or first floor and interconnecting rooms are available for families and groups travelling together.

Ocean View Suites

Ideally situated in a delightful garden setting with the palm fringed beach just steps away, the 560 square foot Ocean View Suites cleverly blend the tropical beauty of Barbados with the charm and elegance of a country home.  Shutter-style louvered doors retract to extend the living room out onto the private terrace and reveal lovely garden and part ocean views. The bedrooms feature either king or twin size beds depending on your preference.

Ocean Front Suites

With the palm fringed beach and the azure waters of the Caribbean Sea only steps away, the Ocean Front Suites offer a perfect island hideaway. Attractive colonial style furnishings, fresh white linens and cool terracotta tiles combine with the tropical comforts of West Indian hospitality to bring you the best of Caribbean living.  The suite’s light and airy living rooms extend out to pretty landscaped patio terraces or balconies, complete with reclining lounge chairs from which to enjoy the panoramic views. Spacious air-conditioned bedrooms feature king or twin sized beds.

Camelot at the Great House

The Camelot Suite at the Great House is located in the original plantation house from which it derives its legendary name. True to the romantic heritage of the Castle of Camelot, the two signature suites - Camelot and Colleton - offer the ultimate in privacy and luxury.   With some 1,380 square feet of comfort and luxury at hand, the interiors of the Camelot Suite bring together the beauty of the colonial plantation house with the elegance of an English country home. Camelot has a canopied king size bed in the bedroom and an over-sized shower and bath in the huge marble bathroom.  Set atop the main house, the piece de resistance of the Camelot is its own, entirely private, rooftop terrace and plunge pool. Reached by a spiral staircase to the roof, this sun lover’s paradise is complete with its own cocktail bar and lounge deck - a great spot to watch the sun sink into the ocean while sipping a favourite cocktail.

Two Bedroom Suites

The luxuriously spacious Two Bedroom Suites offers over 1400 square feet of accommodation making them perfect for families and friends travelling together. The two air-conditioned bedrooms have either king or twin size beds as preferred and there is a sofa bed in the living room. Each bedroom has an en-suite bathroom. These suites are available on both ground and first floors, however children aged 9 years old and under are required to stay in ground floor suites.  The suites look out over the beautiful gardens with partial views of the azure Caribbean Sea. The Two Bedroom Suites are moments away from the swimming pool and poolside bar.

Colleton at the Great House

Nestled atop the southern turret of the Great House, The Colleton Suite marks an historic connection with the Colleton family, the ancestors of the current owners of the hotel who helped to shape the destiny of Barbados. This luxurious suite combines a gracious English colonial style with Caribbean comfort, while still retaining the charm of the original plantation house. The spacious 1,780 square foot suite features all the elements of a private island paradise with its sumptuous four poster king size bed and large bathroom, finished in cool grey marble, with a double shower room and bath.  In the spirit of true privacy and luxury, the highlight of the Colleton Suite is its rooftop plunge pool and terrace, an intimate bougainvillea-filled oasis with views out over the ocean. Few suites in the Caribbean can compare with the luxury and elegance of The Colleton Suite.
