Mount Rainier is a stunning beauty which dominates and demands that all who view it in the horizon visit in person. And the closer you get, the more glorious the view. One of the geologically recent chain of volcanoes within the Cascade Mountains, Mount Rainier is a volcanic massif that is often shrouded in cloud cover for days on end. But on a clear day, Mount Rainier is a landmark that’s visible from many kilometres away.
Mount Rainier is nestled at the centre of a national park of the same name. Open year-round, weather permitting, the Road to Paradise enables visitors on holidays to Washington State to access the high elevations for summer hiking and winter snowshoeing. A scenic drive within the park winds through dense forests, taking in the splendid waterfalls and panoramas of the volcano. Within easy distance of the park are other attractions such as the Northwest Trek wildlife park at Eatonville and the Mount Rainier Scenic Railroad within the small town of Elbe.
