Surrounded by water and superbly located on a west-facing beach with glorious views of the African sunset, this remote and exclusive hideaway is the perfect place to escape from the outside world in style.
Room
Designed to blend unobtrusively with its idyllic beachfront setting and to reflect the influence of the local culture and coastal architecture, the accommodation consists of nine spacious sea front cottages set along the high-water line and eight sea view cottages, all constructed of stone and thatch with large netted windows open to the balmy sea breezes. Each of the individually designed rooms has a hand carved king-sized four-poster bed and is furnished with local wooden artefacts and colourful fabrics. Beachfront cottages additionally have a jacuzzi with spectacular sea view! All cottages are provided with fans, safes and beach accessories in the oversized bathroom. In front of each cottage is a private sitting area where guests can enjoy a drink and watch the sun go down in total privacy.
Deluxe Beach Front Cottage
Deluxe Cottages offer an idyllic beachfront setting, set along the high-water line, and are designed to reflect the influence of the local culture and coastal architecture. Each cottage has a king-sized four-poster bed and is furnished with local artifacts and colourful fabrics. The cottages are designed on a large scale (100 - 180 square metres) and boast Jacuzzis and an open plan lounge area which is furnished in a traditional style. Each cottage offers a private outdoor area with sun loungers and the sandy beach on your doorstep. In-room amenities include coffee & tea making facilities, hair-dryer, safe, fan, en-suite shower room and of course, a Jacuzzi.
Deluxe Family Beach Front Cottage
These cottages are comfortably furnished with four-poster king-size beds and en-suite bathrooms. Both cottages have extensions specially designed for children, complete with their own en-suite facilities. Each cottage is equipped with mosquito nets, 24-hour electricity, fans, safes, complimentary beach accessories, tea and coffee facilities, cool boxes, hair driers and Jacuzzi baths. In front of each cottage is a sandy terrace with sun loungers.
Sea View Cottage
Sea View Cottages are designed to blend unobtrusively with their idyllic setting and are designed to reflect the influence of the local culture and coastal architecture. Each of the eight standard cottages has a king-sized four-poster bed and is traditionally furnished with local artifacts and colourful fabrics. A lofty, thatched roof shades each Sea View Cottage and a sandy terrace with sun-loungers offers views across the gardens towards the sea. In-room amenities include coffee & tea making facilities, hair-dryer, safe, fan and an en-suite shower room.
Dining
The Funzi Keys has its own farm on the main island. Their cattle, pigs and chickens are all reared organically and feed guests at the lodge. There is also a fruit and vegetable garden. Most of the seafood and about a third of the vegetables are then bought from the local community. The tasty and fresh ingredients really contribute to the quality of the food at Funzi. Like the general character of the lodge itself, the food is hearty and home-cooked rather than fancy or stylish.

Life at The Funzi Keys is relaxed and many guests do little more than unwind on the Mazeras stone deck of the large swimming pool with a drink while watching the local fishing dhows sail by. For the more energetic guests there is sailing, fishing, windsurfing, canoeing or perhaps a boat trip up the Ramisi River.
