Churchill Island

Churchill Island

Nestled in a beautiful landscape of Western Port, Victoria, the Churchill Island is a beautiful seaside venue stretched over 50.7 hectares of land, connected to Phillip Island by a small overpass.

Known as the first known site of European settlement in Victoria, Churchill Island is also a renowned historic spot in the neighbourhoods of Phillip Island.

This tiny island houses a historic homestead and a working heritage farm dating from 1872. Today, these sites are open to the public. The Churchill Island adjoins the Churchill Island Marine National Park that extends over 670 hectares of gorgeous landscape surrounded by the verdant forest.

In the year 1798, the Churchill Island was first discovered and charted by Europeans. Gradually, this area in Western Port started developing with more agricultural improvements and industrial movements. However, this island is also a tourist spot next to the Phillip Island.

Tourists usually come here to spend some time in exploring the rural communities and to see the traditional Aussie farming techniques at the many farmlands across the island. Diary farming activities and the farmers market are also quite popular among the younger and older people.

Guests to this island can see the unique highland cattle, Clydesdale horses, ducks, sheep, chickens and peacocks. Apart from the farming activities, you can also enjoy visiting the heritage farm buildings and charming gardens.

Whether you love strolling, farming activities or biking, you will have plenty to see and do at Phillip Island.
