Overview

When visitors enter the Britannia Mine Museum, they will be swept away by the array of activities and exhibits created for adults and children alike. It was once the largest copper mine in the British Empire. Today, this attraction opens up a little-seen world that fascinates all ages. Just like miners did, visitors climb aboard a mine train and rumble into a dark portal to 100 years ago. Outside, clever exhibits, films and artifacts uncover the stories of a once bustling community. The Britannia Mine Museum is a National Historic Site and a Signature Experience with Destination Canada.

Location/Directions

The museum is located on the Sea to Sky highway midway between Vancouver and Whistler at Brittania Beach.

Daily Departure

The museum is open daily year round from 09:00 to 17:00 Guided Tour: the first tour is at 10:00 and the last tour is at 16:00. Tours are offered every 30 -40 minutes between 11:00 and 15:00.

Passenger Instructions

Reservations are not required. Bring a sweater or warm outer layer as the temperature in the Britannia Mine Museum tunnels is 12 degrees Celcius year round.
