Middle Beach Lodge We have always aimed to preserve our natural surroundings at MBL. From the outset, we carefully chose our building sites, planned the structures, imagined our future here, with the greatest respect for our environment. We also take pride in our creative use of recycled heritage materials in the lodges – materials used in construction and décor alike. The first lodge to be built at Middle Beach, our Lodge at the Beach, features classic West Coast architecture in its use of heavy timbers and classic board and batten cedar siding. Warm comfortable sleeping accommodations are grouped around exquisite oceanfront lounges in a decor of rustic West Coast simplicity. The use of recycled wood during this first building phase included timbers salvaged from notable Victoria landmarks such as the Ogden Point Ice Plant in Victoria Harbour. When all the nails had been removed, these timbers were milled and re-used to create fine furnishings including the dining room harvest tables, cabinetry, washstands, beds and side tables. Plank floors of recycled birch wood was laid in the main lounge, while in the central living room, a massive fireplace was crafted from river rock from the nearby Kennedy River. Many of the furnishings are collectibles and antiques sourced from all parts of Canada. A writer who visited us on numerous occasions commented "Ralph Lauren would be happy here."

Dinner at The Headlands Dinner at the headlands begins in the great room, where our courteous servers will greet and invite you to start with one of our light, locally inspired hors d'oeuvres. Mingle with other guests, survey the early evening, or lounge by the fire with a BC wine or beer from our local brewery while Chef, Maija Maltais, and her team put the finishing touches on the meal to come. Meals are served in a gourmet buffet style, featuring locally-sourced salmon, halibut, tuna, and dungeness crab from Tofino fisherman, Lutz Zilliken, of West Pacific Seafoods. Our chefs will personally serve hot entrees from our earthy, open kitchen and invite you to help yourself to fresh baked baguette and exquisitely textured, inspired salads featuring the freshest Vancouver Island produce and cheeses.    The dining area at The Headlands features broad windows that skirt the room, allowing guests access to Mackenzie Beach’s sweeping vistas, providing the perfect accompaniment to a coastal meal. Our goal is to provide a dining experience that combines the other-worldly beauty of The Clayoquot Sound with a familiar, inviting atmosphere in which to enjoy locally-inspired culinary delights. Middle Beach strives to offer guests a true West Coast experience away from the pressures and burdens of life, in our daily world. Complimentary Breakfast at Middle Beach Lodge Our complimentary continental breakfast buffet, served at both The Lodge at The Beach and The Lodge at The Headlands, features brioche and croissants baked in-house by our staff, peasant bread from Tofino’s Common Loaf bakery, and an assortment of Jams and preserves from Fore and Aft Foods, located in Qualicum Bay, BC. Lighter fare is also available with a selection of cereals, juice, Vancouver Island Yogurt, and fresh fruit.
