Skukuza Restcamp - Kruger Park is the largest restcamp and also the operational and administrative headquarters of the park. The restcamp is situated in the southern part of the park on the bank of the Sabie River.
Historical sites in the camp are the dogs’ cemetery, bell tower, old pontoon bridge, train bridge, Selati Rail Museum and Campbell Hut Museum. The Stevenson-Hamilton Memorial Library is open to the public.
Accomodation
Skukuza Rest Camp in Kruger National Park is a popular rest camp situated in the heart of Big Five territory and is easily accessed by road and by air. Skukuza Rest Camp in Kruger National Park features a variety of accommodation options such as camp sites, 21 furnished safari tents, semi luxury bungalows, cottages and 4 guesthouses.
Standard Bungalow
Some units are equipped with air-conditioning while others have fans and similarly some bungalows have kitchenettes with hotplates, fridges and sinks while some have only sinks, and some have neither. Cutlery and crockery can be provided and hired from reception.
There are 178 thatched round-walled bungalows. Each single room bungalow is equipped with 2 or 3 beds per unit, en-suite bathrooms with hot water (most with showers, but some with baths).
Luxury Bungalow
There are 20 luxury bungalows equipped with en-suite bathroom, double bed, air-conditioning, TV (with limited DSTV channels). Some luxury units have a riverside view and kitchen, while other semi-lux units do not have a river view and make use of a communal kitchen. Bungalows along the river have a more modern design with glass sliding doors.
Family Cottage
This unit forms part of the Waterkant Guest House complex and features a well equipped kitchen, 4 bedrooms (2 single beds in each room), a living room, one bathroom and a river view.
Guest Cottage
Skukuza has 15 guest cottages which sleep either 4 or 6 people. The guest cottages feature well equipped kitchens, multiple bedrooms and usually more than one bathroom. Some have 2 double beds so visitors should confirm bed numbers and interior contents when booking.
Guest House
There are three 4 bedroom guest houses which sleep 8 people (2 single beds in each room) and one 6 bedroom guest house which sleeps 12 people (2 single beds in each room).
These well positioned large luxury units offer guests magnificent river views. There are well-equipped kitchens (with microwave ovens), multiple bedrooms and bathrooms and TV with limited DSTV channels.
Safari Tent
Skukuza also offers twelve 2-bed and eight 4-bed permanent furnished canvas stilted tents. Each tent is equipped with a fridge, standing fan and small veranda. Communal ablutions and communal kitchens are available.
Dining
Skukuza Rest Camp has 2 restaurants including the Selati Station Grillhouse. Selati offers a full a la carte breakfast everyday from 7:30am to 10:30am.
Wooden Banana
The Wooden Banana Restaurant has takeaways and quick sit down meals, but be sure to try the burgers, pap and wors at the barbecue area.
